This is a website set up by the Pentrefoelas Community Council on behalf of the whole community. We hope that the website will become a focal point for information about the area around the village.
Pentrefoelas lies on the A5, the historical route of the Irish Mail coach from London to Holyhead. It takes its name from 'Foel Las' (Blue or Green Hill), a promentary just to the north of the village, where there are the remains of a medieval motte.
To the north and the east is the area of Mynydd Hiraethog ('The Denbigh Moors'), crossed by the A543 on its way to Denbigh. To the south lies Carnedd-y-Filiast, rising to 669 meters above sea level.
